Why and How to get to Istanbul
"This magical meeting place of East and West has more top-drawer attractions than it has minarets (and that's a lot)" --Lonely Planet
Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey with population of approximately 17M. Housing national and multinational companies’ headquarters for the EMEA region, it is the business capital producing the major economical values for the country. There are also more than 50 private and public universities that have thousands of international students from all over the world.
Istanbul is the only city in the world that spreads at two continents. It is the meeting point of Europe and Asia, cultures and beauties of the East and the West. Having over 2500 years of history and witnessing establishment and fall of four empires (the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Latin Empire and the Ottoman Empire), Istanbul has landmark places, including Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace (house of the Ottoman Sultans), Sultan Ahmet Mosque (with its blue ceramics) and Grand Bazaar (the biggest covered bazaar). Travel to İstanbul
There are two major international airports in Istanbul:
Ataturk International Airport is at the heart of Istanbul with a major metro line connection. There are numerous airline companies operating in this airport. Ataturk Airport is only a couple of metro stations away from the conference venue. Also, using the metro line, you can easily access everywhere in Istanbul including the historic peninsula.
Sabiha Gokcen Airport is approximately 50 km away from the conference venue but close to central Istanbul. Although the metro line does not reach the airport there are frequent bus services (http://havatas.com/) to several places in the central Istanbul which takes approximately 30 minutes if there is no traffic. Usually low cost airlines operate in this airport.

You can either obtain e-visa before arriving the airports or get visa at the airport entry point upon arrival. You can find the necessary information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (http://www.mfa.gov.tr/sub.en.mfa?cc4e437c-6769-4d79-9017-10b63c651224)
